In a recent story for the Daily Hampshire Gazette, reporter Scott Merzbach details some of the charges faced by a 30-year-old Northampton man who had allegedly damaged a window to an apartment and broken into at least three vehicles at Colonial Village on August 21.
At an upcoming show-cause hearing at Eastern Hampshire District Court, the suspect will be handed two counts of defacing property and charges of breaking and entering a vehicle during the nighttime to commit a felony, disturbing the peace, and assault and battery.
The (Sugary) Twist
Yes, assault and battery. Merzbach presents a further accounting of the incident that may distress the public relations department at the National Confectioners Association:
According to police dispatch logs, one victim told police that the assailant had tried to stuff a candy bar into his mouth before removing the candy bar and throwing it at him.
